Your Bridal Trial Checklist

Your bridal trial is where we create the look you’ll feel confident in on your wedding day - and make sure it photographs beautifully, lasts, and still feels like you.

Here’s how to prepare so we can get the best results.

1–2 Weeks Before Your Trial

Send your inspiration photos
Aim for 3–6 photos max. Choose makeup-focused images (not heavily filtered), preferably using models of a similar facial shape and/or skin tone.

Share your preferences
Let me know what you love, what you don’t want, and how you want to feel on your wedding day (soft, polished, glam, timeless, etc.).

Plan skincare treatments carefully
If you’re booking facials, do so at least 7–10 days before the trial and avoid anything aggressive or new that could cause irritation.

48 Hours Before Your Trial

Gently exfoliate
Keep it light - the goal is smooth skin, not sensitivity. Over-exfoliating can lead to a compromised skin barrier, which will be irritated and sensitive to the touch.

Hydrate
Hydrated skin and lips make a noticeable difference in how makeup sits and wears. We will absolutely be doing skin prep prior to applying makeup, but hydration should come from within (drinking enough water, eating fruits and vegetables, etc.).

Avoid new skincare products
New products can lead to unexpected dryness, texture, or reactions - stick to what your skin already knows and loves. If you have any specific skincare products you’d like to use at your appointment, we can certainly see if it mixes well with makeup and use it as your base.

If you plan to tan
Try to tan before your trial so we can match your foundation correctly on the day of. Spray tans should be done 2-4 days before your makeup appointment. Avoid applying spray tan on your face, as it causes dehydration.

The Night Before

Cleanse and moisturize
Keep your routine simple and consistent.

Avoid strong active ingredients
Skip retinol, acids, peels, or anything that could cause irritation.

The Day of Your Trial

Arrive with a clean face
No makeup, no mascara, and no heavy skincare.

Moisturize as usual
Avoid very oily products or anything you’re trying for the first time.

Wear a light or white top
This helps you see the finished makeup the way it will appear in photos on your wedding day. Colours reflect onto your face, and wearing. bold colours at your trial could be misleading.

If you know your hairstyle, let me know
Your hair choice can affect the balance of the makeup (especially around the eyes and cheeks). I love to plan bridal hair and makeup trials on the same day, to see the final look all together.

Bring With You

  • Your inspiration photos

  • Your favourite lipstick (if you want to incorporate a specific shade)

  • Any accessories you’d like to preview (veil, earrings, etc.)

  • Any allergies, sensitivities, or skin concerns you want me to know

A Quick Note

My goal is always timeless, flattering, and comfortable makeup that lasts - not just what’s trending.

If you have questions (even awkward ones), please ask! It’s all completely normal, and I’m here to guide you through every step.
